Parbati Stage - III Power (520MW)

The Parbati Stage –III HE Project with proposed installed capacity of 520 MW is located in Kullu District of Himachal Pradesh. It is a run of the river scheme which envisages utilising the tailrace release from Parbati Stage –II Project and in-flows of Sainj River. The Project envisages construction of a 43 m high rockfill dam across river Parbati, a 7.98 km long & 7.25 m dia Horse Shoe Shaped Head Race Tunnel, 113.75 m high 20 m dia restricted Orifice Type Surge Shaft and a Power House with 4 Francis Turbines generating units of 130 MW each for generating 1977.23 Million Units of energy in a 90% dependable year. The estimated cost of the Project is Rs. 2304.56 crore (May 2005 price level). The Project is under active construction stage and is scheduled to be commissioned in five years i.e. by November, 2010.
